I have been
listening to a great presentation on my iPod, on financial mastery. The
instructor is laying out a convincing case for how to manage your money for
financial freedom now, and primarily for your retirement. He has separate
accounts for each expense and savings category we need or should have.
I only see one
weakness in his excellent program: he prepares people to have the resources
they need to enjoy the lifestyle they want during retirement, but he does
nothing to ensure they will feel well enough to use it. What is the value in
having abundant financial resources, only to use them for in-home nursing care,
prolonged hospital stays, or for expensive prescription drugs to manage your
lingering, degenerative conditions through the last, long days of your life?
50% of our country’s health care dollar is spent in the last two weeks of
life. 90% is spent by 10% of the people. Most of those 10% are those
who have prepared financially for retirement, only to have to spend their
carefully saved nest egg in managing their illnesses—not enjoying traveling the
world, not enjoying the wonders of nature and all the excitement life has to
offer. It is difficult to get the most from life from a hospital room, or with
an oxygen tank strapped to your wheel chair.
Invest in your
health first, then in your long-term financial freedom. If we have our
health, it adds zeros to all our other accounts in life. If you can work
until you’re 90 and love what you are doing, why would you want to
retire? One of the greatest expressions of freedom we have is to choose
to stay healthy, Spiritually, Emotionally, Nutritionally, Structurally, and
Energetically.
This coming
year, create a financial health account so your wealth account will have true
value. Use your wealth account wisely and your opportunities to enjoy life
will match your desires. No matter what your financial situation, life can
be fun and enjoyable if you have your health. Without your health, life is
a narrower experience. Life can be full to overflowing if we take care of first
things first.
Tune your
nerve system with a regular spinal adjustment. Make sure to balance your
energy on regular intervals. Eat a balanced diet rich with healthy,
vibrant veggies, lean and healthy meats, seasonal fruits and healthy grains.
Make time to find gratitude for the great things in your life: gratitude
is the great healer of all conditions. Spiritually be aware of your life
purpose: if you aren’t sure what it is, make this the year to seek it
out. You will find peace in your heart, and purpose in your life.
Blessings in
this New Year!
